Remember the good ol’ days when fueling up your lawn mower was the easiest part of mowing the lawn? It really was a simpler time before the new gas can spouts became one of the most frustrating devices known to humankind. If you’ve purchased a gas can after January 1, 2009, then you know what we’re talking about. Why did gas can spouts change in the first place? Continue reading to find out, along with ways to upgrade your old can without replacing it.
EPA Regulations
Also known as “portable fuel containers,” gas cans that are made and distributed throughout the U.S. are required to meet the following regulations from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA):
- Automatic closure, like a spring-loaded nozzle spout when it’s not in use
- A single, self-venting opening
- Childproof features (see Children’s Gasoline Burn Prevention Act)
- The can itself must resist a minimum amount of permeated fuels
Stick to Your Old Gas Can
While gas cans produced after January 1, 2009 must stick to these requirements, your old can is still able to serve its original purpose. Maybe the old ones weren’t the best devices, but that’s where EZ-POUR® comes in. Our spouts make fueling up easier than ever.
Flexible Spouts
Thanks to the flexibility of an EZ-POUR® spout, you no longer have to worry about spilling whatever it is that you’re pouring. All you have to do is bend the end with the cap into position and slowly lift the can as the liquid smoothly runs out. Is your spout too short? EZ-POUR® has you covered with an extension kit.
Exceptional Compatibility
EZ-POUR® replacement spouts work with many cans or jugs, including those that hold fuel or water. Kits include a spout and cap, ½ inch replacement push in vent, second base cap to fit additional cans, and flame arrester. Click here for a list of all compatible cans.
Helpful Adapters
Don’t even think twice about missing out on an EZ-POUR® spout. Have a jerry can, metal can, or even a racing jug? We’ve got an adapter for it. Once it’s properly installed, our spouts will fit perfectly.
Why go through the trouble of replacing your gas can just because the spout no longer works? Our replacement spouts are all you need. Buy yours online at ezpourspout.com.
